Join writer-in residence, Virginia Astley, for a workshop in the atmospheric setting of Hardy’s Potting Shed.
‘Countrymen … are born with only a door between them and the four seasons’
– Thomas Hardy
Hardy’s own writing, unlike many of his contemporaries, was deeply rooted in the agricultural community, personalities, way of life and yearly cycle. This workshop will focus on the local agricultural community, past and present. Alongside the practical experience of farming, the workshop will look into the rural traditions and folklore of the area. You will be encouraged to bring elements from this world into your own writing, through group and individual work all led by our writer-in-residence, Virginia Astley.
When? 13th October 2017 10.30 am – 1pm
Where? Hardy’s Cottage
Bookings through 01305 262366. £5.00 per session, plus normal admission.
